## Notes on Work, Energy and Power:

 Note 01: Work is said to be done only when the force applied on a body makes the body move.

 Note 02: A coolie when standing with the load does no work.

 Note 03: The amount of work done by a force is equal to the product of force and displacement of the point of application of the force in the direction of force.

 Note 04: If a force acts on the body and the body does not move, no work is done.

 Note 05: The dot product of two vectors is a scalar. So work is a scalar quantity.

 Note 06: 1 joule = 1 newton x 1 metre.

 Note 07: 1 joule of work is said to be done when a force of 1 newton displaces a body through a distance of 1 metre in its own direction.

 Note 08: 1 erg = 1 dyne x 1 centimetre.

 Note 09: 1 erg of work is said to be done when a force of 1 dyne displaces a body through a distance of 1 centimetre in its own direction.

 Note 10: 1 joule = 107 erg.
